MY INDIA, MY PRIDE

A nation with a rich cultural heritage stands as one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Over the years, it has made remarkable progress in various aspects of socio-economic development since gaining independence. With self-sufficiency in agricultural production and a prominent position among the top industrialized countries globally, India has also ventured into outer space exploration, harnessing nature’s resources for the betterment of its people. Spanning an expansive area of 32,87,263 sq. km (1,269,346 sq mi), India encompasses diverse landscapes, ranging from the majestic snow-covered Himalayan peaks to the lush tropical rainforests of the south. Its geographical distinctiveness is further accentuated by the presence of mountains and the sea, setting it apart from the rest of Asia. Bounded by the Great Himalayas in the north and bordered by the Indian Ocean, with the Bay of Bengal to the east and the Arabian Sea to the west, India proudly holds the title of the 7th largest country in the world.

Situated entirely in the northern hemisphere, the mainland of India extends between latitudes 8° 4′ and 37° 6′ north and longitudes 68° 7′ and 97° 25′ east. It spans approximately 3,214 km from north to south and 2,933 km from east to west. The country shares a land frontier of about 15,200 km, while its coastline, including the mainland, Lakshadweep Islands, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, stretches for a total length of 7,516.6 km.
